Speech Rough Draft - Today I would like to address the topic that I consider to be the 3rd most controversial issue of the world: Parental Control. Parents are the reason why we exist in the world safely. They protect us from danger and always consider us to be prior but sometimes this goes on too far. It reaches the point until it is refer to as parental control, restricting children from certain activities and engagements. As the parental control is increasing, there are various tools that are used for parental control and one of them is our macbook. Our computer has parental control installed in them, allowing parents to see what we are doing. The parental control installed in macbook should be removed for student's privacy, development of one's ego, and the future of the students.
First of all, the question people would ask is why take the action now after it has been installed for more than three years? We are taking actions because it has now reached the point to take the action to come up with a solution. Parental control seems the best way to protect students but in consequence negative effects are brought as well. First point to focus is that students are capable of handling matters with responsibility and maturity. Students are considered as young adults at school and they are responsible for their task, such as devotion to after school events or clubs. Teachers and the school policies also acknowledge students’ responsibilities. When one is absent, one is responsible for all the make-up work not the teachers. The school policy also refers to students as young adults. If students were considered to be responsible and mature enough to take care of their life at school, then why would they need parental control for their own computer? Are high school students vulnerable and irresponsible for computer usage? The parental control installed in macbook should be removed for it does not have a stable reason to remain in the computer.
Another important point to bring up is that the parental control in macbook is invading student's privacy. This is a well-known reason for the removal of parental control but at the same time one of the most important reasons. According to Oxford American Dictionary, the definition of privacy is the state of condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people. Everyone has the right to have privacy and yet the privacy is taken away under the name of protection. Is this justifiable? This just means that students would not have any privacy even during their free time. Are you going to let this happen? Are you going to let your privacy stolen away from you, having no freedom or any private moment to enjoy during your spare time? I might be different but I am not and do not want to become like Dr. Jekyll who had to entertain himself secretly because he had no privacy and freedom due to societal oppression. Jekyll might be considered as a fictional character but there is real life stories related to parental control. Approximately three years ago in California, a friend of my neighbor was named the math genius. She was the paradigm for all students and everybody believed that she would go to a famous college. Shockingly, however, the girl announced that she would not go to college. There was only one reason; she wanted to have her own life without any control from her parents. Turns out she had to lose numerous things at a young age due to her parents' restriction and that brought negative effects on the girl's mind. Parental control does not bring good results always because invading one's privacy weighs more than one considers.
Last but not least, simple yet complex is parents are restricting their children. Throughout the speech, this was the main point of previous reasons but that is because it is the most important point of the parental control. Restrictions seem like a ordinary word but according to Oxford American Dictionary, the definition of restriction is the limitation or control of someone or something, or the state of being limited or restricted. Anything that is restricted signifies a bad condition but if that word is privacy, the damage coming from it is worst than others. Restricting privacy means no freedom, unstable mind due to fear, and difficulties developing one's self-esteem. Isn't every human being equal to each other, disregarding age, appearance, and knowledge? Does one have right to control another person's privacy? Studies show that when their parents restrict children extremely they have difficulties developing self-esteem because they lost confidence in oneself as the parental restriction became severe. Noticing who was extremely controlled by their parents or not is very simple; you talk to them. When one starts talking, then there will be one kid showing lack of confidence and is intrinsic. The one who wasn't restricted would talk with confidence in oneself and without a problem. The result of parental control often results more than just short-term protection; it results the necessity of permanent protection, which is not possible for any of the parents.
Before I end my speech, I would like to inform the audience that I do not have any aversion towards parents or the school. The parental control installed in Macbook should be removed for it brings negative effects on students' lives. Life without any privacy for oneself means extreme stress, pressure, and even fear of people because there is no privacy; everyone knows about myself. Would you like to live a life where everyone knows your secrets, your painful memories, and even bothering memories? I do not know about you but I would not live with a life without privacy. The presence of parental control is macbook is not protection; it is objection for one's independence, and direction to losing oneself.

Necessity of Privacy: Parental Control In Macbook
Today I would like to address the topic that I consider to be the 3rd most controversial issue in the world: Parental Control. Parents are the reason why we exist in the world. They protect us from danger and always consider us to be priority but sometimes this goes on too far. It reaches the point where it is referred to as parental control, restricting children from certain activities and engagements. As parents trying to restrict us more, various tools that are being used are also increasing, one of them being our computer. The parental control installed in macbook should be removed for student's privacy, development of one's ego, and the future of the students.
First of all, the question people would ask is why take the action now after it has been installed for more than three years? We are taking action because it has now reached the point where we need to come up with a solution. Parental control seems the best way to protect students but in consequence negative effects are brought as well. Students have responsibility and maturity to properly use their computers without getting controlled by their parents.
Another important point to bring up is that the parental controls in macbooks are invading student's privacy. This is a well-known reason for the removal of parental control but at the same time one of the most important reasons. According to the Oxford American Dictionary, the definition of privacy is: “the state of condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people.” Everyone has the right to have privacy and yet the privacy is taken away under the name of protection. It turns out she had lost numerous things at a young age due to her parents' restriction and that brought negative effects on the girl's mind. Parental control does not bring good results always because invading one's privacy weighs down more than one considers.
Last but not least, the biggest issue out of all is parents restricting their children. Throughout the speech, this was the main point of previous reasons because it is the most important point of parental control. Restriction seems like an ordinary word but according to Oxford American Dictionary, the definition of restriction is: “the limitation or control of someone or something, or the state of being limited or restricted.” Anything that is restricted signifies a bad condition but if that word is privacy, the damage coming from it is worst than others.
